We understand what it takes, mentally and physically, to train and perform at your best. We have experienced the highs and lows that are associated with a career in dance and understand the passion and commitment that comes with it. Our instructors have used Pilates as a way to rehabilitate and strengthen their bodies.
For decades Pilates has been used by dancers as a form of strength and conditioning. Dance companies around the world now have complete Pilates studios set up on their premises and pre-professional training centres.
Pilates provides a gentle, thorough strengthening and conditioning solution through a system of precise biomechanical movements. This allows the joints and muscles to work in all their capacity to prevent injury and to maximise muscle and joint function. Dancers and aerialists require much more flexibility and range of motion than non-performers and therefore joint stability and strength are key to a performer’s longevity.
Dancers in particular resonate with Pilates because of its precise movement based on alignment, the core, centre of gravity and the integration of breath. Many of us who have been sidelined with an injury have sat in the studio with a theraband rebuilding strength gradually and intelligently.
When you come to our studio you know you can take the time to focus on your needs and work on what you feel requires attention.
