Dorothea
OWNER & PRINCIPLE INSTRUCTOR
Dorothea is a freelance physical performer and actor with a varied CV. During her career Dorothea has worked with Opera Australia, Meryl Tankard and Lucy Guerin to name a few, performing on stage, film, TV and music videos. She trained as a classical dancer and later added circus aerials - lyra, corde and silks - to her repertoire.
Very early on in her dance training (at the age of 8) Dorothea was introduced to Pilates. At the time it was a form of conditioning she had never heard of and attended briefly. Much later on in her career, Dorothea experienced a chronic hamstring tear. As she was only in her early 20s she knew she had to address this. That’s when Dorothea took Pilates seriously and began to attend sessions multiple times a week.
Since then Pilates has helped manage her hyper-mobility, recover from a frozen shoulder and rotator cuff tear, low back pain and many more injuries as a result of the pressures of dance and aerials. Dorothea’s diverse career as a dancer, yoga teacher and aerialist influences her teaching. As a member of the Australian Pilates Method Association, she has a deep understanding and commitment to the Pilates method. Combining scientific knowledge through continuous study helps her achieve the best outcomes for her clients. Her tailored approach ensures a safe, enjoyable and challenging workout to meet goals and get results.
